Overview
I designed this 8' x 18' precast mural. It was cast by Stromberg Architectural Products of Greenville Texas using GFRC. I designed and installed the fused glass insets.
Goals
For the design I took into consideration the corrugated metal building façade as well as the glass window surround. Certain mural elements such as the circuitry and binary code were meant to tie into the architecture of the building. I wanted a clean contemporary look to match the architecture.
Process
I was the artist and the designer for this project. I worked with Stromberg Architectural through several months preparing the design and working out precast details. I visited the plant in Greenville Texas to inspect the molds and meet the company owner. For the installation I was on site to assist Fabuwallous Solutions in installing the piece.
Additional Information
The University wanted artwork that referenced science, technology, engineering and math. The artwork relies on signs and symbols to communicate information about these subjects. Members of the University community are very happy with how this mural turned out.
