Overview

The LUMA Hotel Times Square is a new, ground-up, boutique hotel located just blocks from Times Square and Bryant Park. DM Art created abstract imagery on various substrates as well as a custom wall mural for 130 guestrooms and suites.

Goals

For this project, DM ART developed an art program inspired by the luminosity and synergy of nearby Times Square and Bryant Park. The custom wall mural imprinted on a substrate of faux glass beads delivers a dynamic punch of color yet glistens to the eye. Additional abstract imagery printed on various substrates and floated in simple metallic frames continue the narrative in the suites.

Process

DM Art collaborated with Stanford Hotels, for this new hotel development. The process always begins with listening and understanding the client’s needs so that a successful interpretation of their vision is fully realized. The theme of luminosity although esoteric was not limiting when conceptualizing. It was a constant that was applied in subtle ways to the abstract artworks, setting the mood in the environment just as light does naturally.
