Overview
This fused glass and metal wall sculpture that depicts iconic landmarks of Stanford University measures 19 feet wide by 6 feet high.
Goals
The client envisioned an artwork that would showcase the iconic architecture and topography of Stanford University, which is where this children's hospital is located. The rolling hills and nearby bay are depicted, along with the towers and arches for which Stanford is known.
Process
The client contacted me with the idea of creating a large-scale wall sculpture of buildings out of glass and metal. They sent me images of some of the iconic buildings of the University, and I put together several sketches with my ideas. We went back and forth several times making revisions and perfecting the sketch. Colors for the glass and metal were chosen. As I was creating the artwork, I sent several images to the client of my progress. A final image was sent for approval prior to shipping.
