Overview

My work since 1980 has focused on the art of creating the commission as an interactive and separate art form. It is clear to me that art brings many positive and educational effects to the people involved with its creation. For every commissioned and/or public art work I’ve executed, there has been thorough research done on how the art could most interact with it’s future viewers, the architecture developed for the building, the style of the interior design, the intended use of the building, and the philosophy of its owners.

Goals

For this project, I investigated the world of science looking to Chemistry Books, magazine articles, books on biology, my memories from studying science in school, my memories from growing up as a veterinarian’s daughter, and most of all my friends with scientific backgrounds. What began to stand out was looking through a microscope and the beautiful images visible there, DNA as the blueprint of life, water and the many roles it plays in life and ATP as the energy carrier in living systems.
