Overview
Light Totem was originally completed in 2007 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the I.M.Pei designed museum: $85,000. Redesigned and made permanent 2007: $60,000. Embellished including interactive lighting 2014: $60,000. 70 ft. tall aluminum with LED lighting.
Goals
The goal was to celebrate the architecture of the IU Art Museum, create a nighttime destination, and redefine the entrance to the museum.
Process
Collaboration with the Director of the Art Museum to develop this site specific installation.
Additional Information
Light Totem continues to be a nighttime destination for the campus and community. Performances, weddings, and a multitude of events now take place in the plaza which Light Totem anchors.
