This long established (French/California cuisine) Berkeley restaurant was having an interior design upgrade. Lalime's has been in operation for over 20 years. Designer Kathy Farley / ArtDecor Albany CA was asked to assist, enable and consult with design ideas and resources.

The open dining room with high ceilings had an acoustic issue. When the restaurant was at full capacity (most of the time) it tended to be noisy and loud. The idea was to have floating panels suspended in the center of the room to buffer sound. Kathy Farley suggested Artist Michael Shemchuk paint these panels in a soft abstract style reminiscent of a 1930's French Bistro. The outcome: the panels worked both aesthetically and functionally .

All the parties involved : Designer, Owner, Contractor and Artist worked in collaboration to complete the project.
