Overview

Daphne Hill and Anna Stump are pleased to present their collaborative paintings. Acrylic color and metallics float between layers of epoxy resin on wood panel, creating depth and shifting brilliance. With references to Japanese motifs, Rococo foliage, gilt decoration, and Impressionism, the partners’ influences include Jakuchu, Fragonard, Sargent, and the light and landscapes of Southern California. A new series of work addresses issues of environmental trauma.

Hill & Stump work together in their studio in San Diego, and are represented in Los Angeles by MLA Gallery and Art Unified, and in San Diego by Sparks Gallery and Sergott Contemporary Art Alliance.

Goals

Our work almost always is placed because of COLOR!

Process

Our method: One partner begins an composition in acrylic paint, then we pour a layer of resin. The next partner then gets to add whatever she wants with no input from the other person. Another layer of resin is poured, and we repeat until both of us are satisfied.

Additional Information

Unfortunately we don't have many images of our work hanging in clients' homes--very difficult to get these from designers and collectors.
