Overview
HAMMERSMITH HOSPITAL RENAL UNIT, London, UK. 2009. $125,000
25 sq metres. Suspended Antique Stained glass with antique glass manifestations.Glass suspended on stainless steel cables.
Goals
Inspired by microscopic images of the body's internal systems, these designs show parts of these systems that have been enlarged and abstracted. The designs are based on the theme of Renal Biology and are intended to work together as a collection of artworks connected by their common theme and physical location.
Process
I worked with the architect and ran workshops with patients to produce an artwork that would integrate an artwork that unites all the floors from the exterior but works as an individual piece on each floor.
Additional Information
All the glass doors and walls in the building have lines of small 2 inch squares of coloured antique glass, that are bonded to the surface as “manifestations” - over 2,000 individual pieces of antique mouth blown glass.
