Overview
45 steel artworks and 45 corresponding student written Haiku poems create a narrative depicting imagined neighborhood environments. The color-coordinated steel panels span out from existing light poles, enhancing the multi-modal experience along Mesa’s Main Street.
Goals
The goal of this project was to create a drive-thru gallery of narrative art along the expanded light-rail line in the city of Mesa, Arizona.
Process
45 Haikus is the end result of a collaboration between Mesa Public Art and our studio. Students from varying public schools in Mesa submitted Haikus to be considered and ten were eventually chosen to have their poem included along the light rail line.
