Overview
It is important to City Schools to begin to bring their aesthetically tired, unsecure, energy inefficient, and deteriorating school facades and window systems into the 21st century. Together with City School representatives, PBA visited other completed City Schools and Baltimore County schools that have taken steps in the right direction. It was important for all concerned that the new systems and design provide the community, staff and students with a welcoming face that reflects a place of enthusiastic learning.
Process
The project was conceptualized, designed and detailed in a very short time period. PBA was in constant contact with City Schools and met often to ensure both schedule and expectations were met. Furthermore, additional documentation was provided to address deteriorated or inoperable soffits, sills and lighting.
Additional Information
Penza Bailey Architects was assigned a challenging On-Call task order to replace the exterior curtainwall window and door system full perimeter of the school. Under the guidance and direction of Mr. Stephen Broache, PBA provided an exciting, colorful, and well-received design for the new curtainwall system.
