Overview

The forty-five feet high illuminated steel sculpture features three pink roses with gold stems and silver leaves, wrapped in a ribbon. One flower includes a small surprise, a bee hidden in plain sight, for viewers to enjoy discovering. Materials include powder-coated aluminum and stainless steel as well as LED lighting

Goals

Situated on wide, flat roundabout in an open urban area, the monumental sculpture is right-sized to engage effectively with its surroundings. Clearly visible from 3 intersecting streets by day or night, the work not only identifies the roundabout, but also establishes a sense of place for the neighborhood with a hopeful and loving gesture for visitors and residents to enjoy

Process

The artist collaborated with fabricators Bomar Industries to translate his vision with clarity and finesse. City engineers and landscapers, lighting designers and concrete specialists also collaborated in preparing the site and illuminating the work

Additional Information

“Roses are beautiful, universally-understood symbols with many meanings, all of them positive. Three roses mean “I love you”, and pink roses stand for happiness, grace, gratitude and joy. My hope is that this sculpture not only beautifies the neighborhood, but also lifts the hearts of folks who visit, live and work there with its everlasting message of grace, love and joy.” - Arlon Bayliss
