Overview

: “GHOST FISH / 107”, 2012. Port of LA and Los Angeles Cultural Affairs public art project at site of dwindling fishing industry. Stainless steel web net and coil in the shape of a 40 ft. x 16 ft. diam. tuna catches fishermen history of San Pedro, CA. Artist obtained objects and artifacts from fishing community. Solar powered video fish eye reflects viewers into sculpture and powers LED lighting.

Goals

Through Percent -for-art program selection process. my short listed preliminary design won the competition. Artwork was integrated into overall Port Authority and EDAW landscape designer schedule.Artist followed contractor milestones to erect sculpture at site.

Process

Artist worked with Port engineers and artist engineer to coordinate drawings for construction contractor, Port Electrical engineer, and metal fabrication and installation at the site.

Additional Information

This was a rewarding project for the Artist. Initial Public Art consultant, (Fine Arts Services), hired by the Port provided excellent ground work before the project began.
