Overview

What makes the lobby display at Gensler’s Austin location unique is the way it seamlessly integrates THRUMEDIA® LED stick technology with more conventional full-matrix LED video. THRUMEDIA® is SNA Displays’ transparent video product line that includes an array of pixel pitch and spacing options to create a wide range of “see-through” LED video displays via creative, non-traditional layouts.

Goals

The one-of-a-kind LED video wall allows Gensler’s Austin team to incorporate rich, dynamic content into their lobby. The 366-square-foot display also serves as an effective demonstration to current and prospective clients of the power of digital experiences. Gensler will feature a combination of locally sourced creative content from Austin artists and students, portfolio work, culture-related content, and ambient nature content.

Process

SNA Displays combined the two LED video technologies by layering 30 horizontal THRUMEDIA® strips above the main full-matrix LED screen. While all strips in Gensler’s system employ a 10 mm pixel pitch horizontally, the LED sticks are spaced at various distances to create a gradient effect. The strips are clustered in five different spacing groups, from 30 mm to 80 mm vertical spacing.

Additional Information

Gensler’s state-of-the-art LED display system is 13’2” high by 26’2” wide and integrates BRILLIANT™ Interior and THRUMEDIA® technologies from SNA Displays. The main, full-matrix portion of the LED wall uses a narrow pixel pitch of 1.92 mm and contains over 5.8 million pixels (1,404 x 4,160).
