Overview

ZEBRADOG was retained (with partner Groth Design), to create a destination gateway for the sister communities of Mequon and Thiensville. The design, a community promenade, serves as identification of the point of arrival into a special neighborhood that is the center of the two communities. It is a public feature meant to activate the riverfront, serve as a public amenity, promote history of the community, and celebrate the new growth to the heart of the communities. ZEBRADOG proposed and designed a co-branded “Mequon Thiensville” identity mark which will become a prominent aspect of the exhibit.

Goals

To provide a vision of an iconic structure that that instills an unmistakable sense of arrival at the shared heart of the Mequon and Thiensville communities, and to enhance this public space with stories of local history, displays of public art, and improved access to the riverfront.

Process

With site analysis and 3D modeling, ZEBRADOG imagined an open structure greeting visitors with a sweeping gesture growing from a wooded landscape. It’s open slatted façade bends into a grand threshold leading to a shaded lawn and promenade overlooking the scenic Milwaukee River.

Additional Information

A civic gateway was designed by ZEBRADOG, in partnership with Groth Design Group, to celebrate the vitality of this commercial destination in the City of Mequon and Village of Thiensville.
