Overview
“Park Echos”, 30” x 120”, porcelain enamel on steel panels. Commissioned by the City of Los Angeles for new bus stops in the neighborhood of Echo Park.
Goals
Local artists were asked to submit proposals based on their experiences and memories of the area. This piece focused on the lake : it’s flow, fauna and landmarks.
Process
All artists in the project completed a workshop with seasoned public artists Wayne Healy and Peter Shire, to learn and practice the process of painting with porcelain enamel on steel. It is a challenging medium to work with, but the results stand the test of time and elements.
