Overview
Client wanted a painting referencing cherry trees in bloom to hang in a predetermined space above an interior door. Due to the client’s budget, the dimensions were 36″ x 48″.
Goals
The client wanted a painting from me for his growing art collection; however, he wanted the painting to specifically address his interests.
Process
The client and I held a conference call during which we reviewed past paintings of mine and discussed which ones resonated with him and why. After that initial meeting, I returned to him with 3 rough pencil sketches and accompanying notes that referenced paintings he had liked. He chose one concept from the 3 to move forward with.
