Overview
For the 24-acre Siegfried and Roy Park in Las Vegas, I designed and had fabricated a 22′ cast aluminum sculpture. The scope of the project, “Dream Machine,” expanded largely due to positive relationships and support between the various public entities involved: CC public works, CC Arts Council, and the Department of Aviation.
The project was granted additional funding to include an artist-designed “sanctuary space” surrounding the sculpture.
Goals
This sculpture welcomes visitors to Siegfried and Roy Park, the public park named after beloved Strip performers. Siegfried and Roy whom have sadly passed, dazzled us not only with magic but with their contributions to civic life, including their support for Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s K-9 training program and the Secret Garden at The Mirage.
Additional Information
The Dream Machine Project was truly a "shared effort" in pursuit of common goals. Throughout the project, was excellent communication and cooperation between the artist and multiple stakeholders.! Such a strong working relationship was formed, the overall plan for Dream Machine's "site" was greatly expanded towards the completion of Siegfried and Roy Park. While completing the sculpture, the artist was invited to work with landscape designers and a construction team to create the sanctuary in which Dream Machine would be installed. This added approximately 6000-8000 square feet to the original 200 ft plus funding to the original footprint dream machine was commissioned for.
