Overview

My intention with this project was to integrate the artwork into the building, complementing and enriching it, and at the same time providing an original art piece that has educational value and meaning. The architectural art glass is 55 feet high by 18 feet wide. The suspension sculpture consists of 52 pieces of cold cast glass panels. This suspension project forms a dynamic, double helix shape which is presented throughout the entire building.

Goals

Influenced by the double helix structure of DNA, the installation engages the space with a powerful statement that reminds students, staff, and visitors of the building blocks of life.

Process

The architectural art glass was fabricated by Derix Glasstudios in Germany.
