Client: Private Residence

Overview

This Family Room, located adjacent to the formal Living Room, was designed in an effort to be consistent with the style of the house, comfortable for the family of 5. Both the coffee table and the side table were designed and fabricated by Chicago artist Hans Van Der Hill. Sculpted from solid hard wood, Van Der Hill's Asian-inspired designs compliment the owner's existing collection of Chinese & Thai art while remaining consistent with the scale of the traditional American space.

Goals

Working with Hans Van Der Hill, Garrett Paschen requested two tables that were both functional and integrated to the overall design of the space. The scale of the tables was determined by the custom sofas fabricated Al Vivo Upholstery.

Process

Garrett Paschen supplied Van Der Hill with the dimensions and scheme for the room. Van Der Hill provided initial drawings before executing the design. Garrett Paschen approved the drawings and finish of the both tables.
