Overview

Two fused glass hanging panels, 57″ x 26″ x 2″, depicting the beauty and colors of the Costa Rican landscape were commissioned to be hung in the spa building at Alta Gracia Hacienda Boutique in Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica, the biggest spa in Central America.

Goals

The fused glass panels were installed within two 73" x 57" x 12" lighted alcoves found on either side of the symmetrically designed entryway into the large pool and spa room of the resort's spa building. The colors and design within the glass brings together the hardscape elements of the space with the fused glass accents.

Process

The natural color and light of Costa Rica inspired the project. Contacted by the project design, Mari Jose Artinano, of Deko Studio in Costa Rica, by request of the owner, previous work was used as examples. Sketches for the project were created and shared via email. The glass panels were designed and created layering and firing sheet glass, glass powder and glass stringers. The colors of glass blend, combine and flow.
