Client: Pantano Wash Bridge, Tucson, Arizona

Overview

Color Wash is a colorful experience that presents the familiar image of flowing water in a new way. It adds vivid color to the already sculptural form of an arched bridge. The artwork is visible from a distance but also provides a special experience for people on the bridge.

Goals

People on the bridge see a flowing stream of water, as they look at the art lengthwise. As they look straight up, the blue of the hanging panels blends with the blue of the Arizona sky. Our hope is that this artistic intervention to the bridge will make it both a pleasing addition to the landscape and a destination/meeting place for miles around. The effect is made possible by a relatively new UV-stabilized polycarbonate product that incorporates intense color in a protected interior layer.
