Overview

The building called “Catamaran House” designed by arch. Jakub Woźniczka with the Kameleonlab team is a 1200 m2 residence with a swimming pool (on the underground level) located on a large plot near Poznań. The building was divided into two blocks of flats connected by glass connectors, creating a patio. Interior design was coordinated by interior architect Barbara Węgrzyn and arch. Przemysław Stawski from Czajkowsky Studio.

Goals

Significant parts of the interior decors of the walls made of large-scale kiln-formed glasses designed and created by Tomasz Urbanowicz were introduced to the residence in 2010. The artistic casted glass panels creating the composition entitled “The Sails of the Catamaran” are illuminated with fiber optics by the Lupus company. An important role is played by the reflection of images in the swimming pool. The glass reflects like sails in the water in a lazy harbor. In the patio, the green composition illuminated at night is visible from almost every corner of the house. The entrance features probably the first sculpture in the world being an original aluminum and glass cast, also designed and created by ARCHIGLASS Tomasz Urbanowicz studio.

Process

The design process started as the collaboration with the interior arch. designers Barbara Węgrzyn and Przesmysław Stawski from Czajkowsky Studio. The proposed atrium composition and underground swimming pool glass panels played a significant role in creating the harmony and adequate visual ambience - distinct in every particular area. The scuplture in front of the house is a completion of coherent work.
