Overview
The burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) is a small, long-legged owl found throughout the Ontario area. The owl is emblematic of a deep connection with wisdom and intuitive knowledge.
Goals
The goal of the project was to create a signature sculpture for the Element Hotel that pays homage to the Burrowing Owls of Ontario, CA.
Process
A partnership between John Randall Nelson and Glacier House.
After discussing a concept and direction with the developer and the City of Ontario, we presented several ideas. With feedback from the selection committee, the Burrowing Owl theme was chosen to represent the wildlife of the Ontario area; the end result of a collaboration between Ontario Public Art, Glacier House Development and John Randall nelson.
