Overview
Bahrain Bay Kitchen at the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay is a bright, family-friendly all-day dining venue with an around-the-world buffet concept and multiple live action cooking stations that offer amazing variety to the hotel guests. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow for spectacular views of the Bahrain Bay and an abundance of natural light, while an expansive lawn and outdoor seating provide the perfect social space for groups and families.
Goals
The overall inspiration for the design of the space comes from the idea of strolling through a garden. The design team wanted to create the magical feeling of a garden throughout, manifesting the idea through playful, organic finishes. With garden lanterns, an abstract “tree” canopy, floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing evolving light throughout the day, and a sprawling lawn leading up to the outdoor seating, the space very much embodies a bright, sunny garden.
The commissioned art wall by Moss & Lam was very important to the overall design – it managed to accentuate the concept of the garden in an abstract way, rather than a literal interpretation. Gold, green, and mauve ‘petals’ adorn a large wall, creating a whimsical cascading pattern that enhances the garden concept with an artistic flair.
Process
The collaborative process between the design team and artist was crucial to the success of the project. Moss & Lam worked with the design team to come up with an abstract piece that would perfectly complement the garden concept of the space. EDG shared their vision and concept with the artist, who used “broad artistic and stylistic vocabulary to beautify” the space.
