Overview
14' x 18' x 24' Glass, Copper, Bronze and Brass. Two large mobiles consisting of three copper wrapped branches. Each branch is filled with kiln shaped glass leaves and supports the many copper mini mobiles. An ever-changing, slightly moving sparkling glass sculpture viewed from below and from the balcony.
Goals
The specific guidelines were to "promote a sense of healing" incorporating "modern, clean lines". My immediate thought was of walking through the woods...leaves fluttering down in fall...peaceful.
Process
1255 glass leaves needed to be wrapped in a braided copper wire to emulate the veins of a leaf and give an attachment point. I put out a call for help and over the next two weekends nearly 40 people showed up to help. This community involvement was not only helpful to me, but gave a lot of pride to those involved. I still hear about it.
