Overview

I was asked to create a mobile for a 24 foot skylight in the center court of a large shopping center in Sacramento. I presented two options for the owner to choose from. He was so attracted by both designs that he decided to expand the project to include two smaller mobiles for skylights in two side halls. So, we went from a one mobile project to a triple project. These are made of painted aluminum in colors to complement the colors of the center.

Goals

The mobiles were meant to humanize and add an enlivening energy to the center - and to bring and upbeat addition of warm colors.

Process

This was a happy collaboration between myself, the architect on the project, the owner of the center and a small company of artisans who were able to cut, bend, paint and create the mobiles to my specifications.
