Overview
The Adena Hospital built a new cancer center. They wanted a cross for a small chapel, but wanted something more artistic and not so much just a cross. They had seen some of the work from a series of laser cut wood. I designed this piece to fit in the chapel and give the visitor something to focus on.
Goals
The work needed to be colorful by request. The work was coordinated with other work placed throughout the hospital.
Process
The art consultant presented my portfolio to the client. She liked a previous piece of work that was laser cut and painted, then assembled and requested that I design a similar a piece that fit in the chapel.
Additional Information
Nature elements were woven into the design. By making the cross the negative space allowed the work to be seen as art as well as a religious symbol.
