Overview
Blessing Hancock hired Gizmo Art Production to fabricate and install this enchanting stainless steel sculpture that is now been placed outside of the District VII Police Station, Washington Park, Maryland. The piece signifies the importance of law enforcement and is a symbol of gratification. The sculpture displays words like justice, to serve, heart, and unity.
Goals
"The title, Accolades, refers to a special honor or an acknowledgment of merit. Accolades reflects the spirit and protective presence of the police service and becomes an iconic land mark in the community. Composed of two distinct shield forms resembling wings invite you to pass through it serving as a gateway and visual screen." Blessing Hancock
Process
The illuminated geometric metal sculpture was designed by the artist, Blessing Hancock, and the design files were passed along to Gizmo's designers who made them into a CAD model/design that could be read by a waterjet machine. The waterjet cut out all of the letter panels from 1/4" stainless steel. These large panels were sanded and bent to the desired shape and a frame was added. The piece has two color changing RGB lights that catch the eye and make shadows with the words on the ground.
