Overview

Commissioned and funded by The Dilworth Community Development Association, Time Line is constructed entirely from original trolley track unearthed during local street repairs. The large graceful arc reflects the movement over time of the history and renaissance of Charlotte’s first streetcar suburb; pointing at one end to the original trolley terminus in Uptown Charlotte, and at the other to the thriving Dilworth neighborhood. Sited on a traffic island dividing a city park, it required meeting the site-line and setback requirements of the DOT, as well as the often-conflicting requirements of the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Departments.
