Overview
This plaza in front of the City of Atlanta Detection Center hosts a sculptural environment based on the notion of time. Four carpets are design with symbols of marking time while at the center of the plaza is a bronze mound that echoes the legend from which Peachtree gets its name: a pitchtree that once stood atop a Native American mound. Also on the plaza are etched Granite “carpets” that address the issue of time.
Goals
To provide the area with a significant work of art that also serves as a memorial to fallen officers and firefighters.
Process
Design Team Effort with the architects providing a site for the artwork.
