Overview
A 24K gold plating on distressed canvas creates a stunning effect with the varying natural light and changing interior environment. The highly reflective surface interacts with the space while also speaking to the history of banking and quality of the company.
Goals
The space was carefully considering when commissioning art. Size of wall, materials, light, circulation and aesthetic and use were all considered when commissioning this piece. The space was already completed before we were brought onto the project. However, staying within the vision of the architect and designers, while also meeting our clients needs was top priority. We wanted something unique and eye catching that was accessible and also spoke to the creative concept. We also brought in the larger environment of Irvine and its environs in our art selection. The rough burlap and distressed canvas speaks of the history of orange groves and fishing while the gold speaks of luxury.
Process
We worked closely with the client to come up with a concept. Once we were all agreed, then many artists were considered and the selection was narrowed to one. We worked closely with the artist to make sure that all expectations were met including weekly photo updates sent to the client of the work in progress.
Our design process included a custom menu of art selections presented digitally complemented by a presentation of original fine art and sample art to support the objective. Professional project management services include that the criteria issued for commissions and framing were scheduled to produce exact specifications and to meet the desired completion date; the receipt of shipments; insurance certificates; loading dock coordination; installation supervision and professional security installation.

The Creative Concept for this Project: The art needs to be rich, elegant, comfortable and contemporary, abstract but not far out modern, some recognizable artists, using unique and varied mediums. Artwork will look smart, competent, well-designed and high quality to represent the highest quality of service. Quality and well designed art to equal trust. Artwork will be accessible, unique and identifiable to this client. The colors in the art will be cheerful and warm; colors that make people feel good.
