CODAworx, the hub of the commissioned art economy at the center of the global movement of creative activism, is accepting entries for the 10th CODAawards: Collaboration of Design + Art. From the very beginning, Interior Design magazine has served as the National Media Partner for the prestigious awards program; over the years, CODAworx and Interior Design have been able to assemble leading designers, architects, and artists to serve as jurors.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary, they went back to prior jurors for a “repeat performance,” and as a result, the 2022 jury list serves as a veritable who’s who of the design + art world. Returning jurors include designers Clodagh, Lauren Rottet and Jamie Drake, architects Malcolm Holzman and Gisue Hariri and award-winning artists Guy Kemper and Patrick Marold. Cindy Allen, Editor-in-Chief of Interior Design, also serves on the jury. All jurors, whether design professionals or art professionals, marry the concept of Collaboration of Design + Art (CODA) in their own work - which makes them perfect to select the best projects that exemplify the mission of the awards. Barbara Tober, Chairman Emeritus of the Museum of Arts and Design, served on the very first jury for the CODAawards, and will again this year. She notes, “These awards stimulate the creation of new and unique artistic ideas for the future of this worldwide phenomenon.” The influence of the CODAawards can be measured in the growing number of outstanding submissions from around the world, and the press recognition that results when the winners are announced. (Last year’s winner in the Public Spaces category by artist Rebecca Mendez was featured on the PBS Newshour.) Winning projects over the years have represented not only the creative prowess of top visionaries in interior, architectural, or public spaces, but also symbolize how art and design bring peace, prosperity, and profound meaning to our lives. 2020 winning project I Was Here combined art, history, song, and technology to bring attention to the history of enslaved people, places, beliefs, and common connections.

I Was Here project director Marjorie Guyon states, “CODAworx has brought national and international attention to the I Was Here project. We simply can't say enough about how significant their advocacy, reach, support, and comprehensive understanding of the public art world has been for us.” Submissions are now being accepted for the 10th Anniversary CODAawards; the submission deadline is May 31. A special Celebration Party will take place in October at CODAsummit: Denver to recognize this year’s winners and honor the values the CODAwards represent.
