CODAworx Announces CODAsummit: “The Intersection of Art, Technology and Place”

MADISON, WI, March 20, 2018 – CODAworx, the hub of the commissioned art economy, announced today that it will produce CODAsummit: The Intersection of Art, Technology and Place in Santa Fe, NM on September 20-21, 2018. The groundbreaking event will create a platform for conversation at this milestone moment in art history when technology is playing a key role in major commissioned artworks. CODAsummit will focus on this paradigm shift by featuring artists who are using technology to create placemaking commissions and the collaborations occurring between artists, designers, architects, scientists, and technologists.

CODAworx is at the center of this global movement, placing it in a unique position to create a gathering of key figures in the art and technology worlds. Held at the prestigious Center for Contemporary Arts, the conference will convene leading artists and technology companies to present artistic-technology collaborations around the world. In addition, it will bring together thought leaders – museum curators, public art agency administrators, representatives from leading educational institutions – to develop critical thinking about the role of technology in placemaking art.

Artists and commissioning panelists will present original art environments that are interactive and engage viewers on multi-sensory levels. A panel on data visualization will address how artists use the visual representation of data to facilitate comprehension of a subject. The resulting high-level dialogue will advance the interdisciplinary interests bridging technology and creative practice, and develop a new vocabulary to address this exciting new paradigm.

“At CODAworx, we see artists collaborating with technology teams, scientists, and engineers to make places as art. The amazing work they create has given us the impetus to hold a dedicated Summit to bring together the talent we’ve found around the world,” said Toni Sikes, CEO of CODAworx. “We have been working closely with the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe to develop an event that will enlighten, educate, and inspire.”

The city of Santa Fe, long known as a leading arts destination, is re-defining itself as an international cultural hub for new media and emerging media art. CODAworx is partnering with leading state and local arts organizations to welcome attendees to this magical city.
